So do I just load the truck on a trailer and take it to them and tell them to set it and that's it?

Now I got to find a trailer my truck will fit on. Will it ok to crank it before they set the fuel sync?

if you can get sync close enough for the engine to run halfway decent, just drive it to the dealer. Or whatever shop that will set sync for you.

How are they set factory, is it just TDC and rotor pointing to number 1? Or is there something different I need to do?

There is a procedure in the FSM. Basically, line up marks on the timing gears, line up the distributor rotor with a mark on the dist, and those both need to line up with a mark on the block. Should get you in the ballpark such that the motor will at least run.

Basic fuel sync can be set with a DVM to get it up and running, and how to do that has been posted more times than enough, try a search and see if you can find how it's done.

I might be going from a 5.9 to a 5.2 too so could the 5.2 computer be substituted instead of having the fuel synced,I will be trying to find a complete truck before doing the swap.
