Use a flywheel instead of a flex plate.

This is the simple answer to your simple question. If there are any more specifics you would like to share it might help. Such as engine year, vehicle year, if the engine is all thats being replaced, etc.

You will also need a clutch disc, pressure plate and throw-out bearing at a minimum. The vehicle should also have a clutch pedal and the appropriate linkages.

You will need to ream or die grind the end of your crank to 1" because the pilot bearing will not fit in the crank of an auto engine. You must be very careful not to take to much out cause the pilot bearing will fall out and if you take to little and force the bearing in it will deform it and could be enough to lock the tranny and crank together making the clutch useless. I have been down both of these roads.

I don't know about the 318, but on the 360 you don't need to ream anything out. You can get a pilot bearing with a bushing from your local parts house.

It sounds like you're swapping an auto equipped engine into a manual truck (sorry if I'm ASSuming wrong). If that's the case, you'll need the pilot bearing with bushing, crank sensor (wouldn't hurt to replace even if yours is good), and new clutch hardware while you're in there.

More info about your truck and engine would help a lot, as previously mentioned.

You do NOT need to ream it out. The crankshafts are the same between the two engine. If you do need to modify the crank you have the WRONG pilot bearing.

If you want more info on the swap PM me and I can help you, I have done the complete swap.

I'm not going to type it all up if he ain't serious about the swap.

If he comes back serious I'll post it up here.
