Default 96 ram, 01 transmission internals and 01 ecu questions

I had my transmission rebuilt and upgraded to 2001 internals and electronics with upgraded governor solenoids. I was having the trans temp code pop up and od shutting off with the 96 ecu. So we swapped in an 01 ecu truck runs and shifts amazing. But these are my issues, i need the ecu pinouts for the 96 and the 01 as im getting several emission codes not related to the 96 truck btw its a 5.2 2wd automatic. Also cruise control doesnt work and i think the front o2 sensor pinout might be different. Other than that the truck runs amazing and shifts better also gas mileage increased.
These are the codeslisted running the 01 ecu
P0031 heated 02 circuit low bank 1 sensor 1
P0037 heated circuit low bank 1 sensor 2( this i know of as i accidently cut through the rear o2 bung when removing the exhaust to drop the transmission lol so no rear o2 plugged in right now)
P1495 leak detection pump solenoid
I still have the 96 computer just in case.

As long as you have a late model '96 which has a 46RE transmission, you might want to go back to the '96 PCM, as I believe the 2001 exhaust system has 4 O2 sensors - 2 upstream and 2 downstream to better monitor/tune left side vs. right side exhaust. Others will likely chime in on what that may do for the transmission control with the later model stuff in it.

I have an early model '96 RAM 2500 and it has a 46RH transmission.

Yeah i have the 46re but with the 01 governor solenoid and pressure switch there is a transmission temp senaor built in and its ahutting off od. Im wondering if there is a way to bypass that to work with the 96 ecu. Because it drives fine with the 96 but after about 5-10 miles the light comes back on and od shutsdown because the ecu thinks the transmission is overheating. If i can bypass just that ill run the 96 again as it was shifting and running like normal till the mil comes on. Maybe. Mopar modded ecu?

ON the 8 prong valve body plug the #8 pin is the same for the 96 and 01 just different color. Im curious if i installed a 1k resistor into that violet wire and possibly trick the ecu to thinking the transmission temperature is normal. Any suggestions? The cummins guys do this alot but they also jabe an external transmission temp sensor.

You need to find out why the PCM thinks the trans is overheating. Do you still have the checkvalve in place in the cooler line? If so, get rid of it.

Also, pinouts for the 8 pin trans connector changed in 2000 (or was it 99?) model year. That could cause some interesting problems as well.

There is no bypass valve on this transmission. The issue is the 2001 governor has the trans temp senaor built into it thats why the 96 ecu kept thinkibg it was running hot when in fact my transmission runs very cool. Im going to try that 1k resistor and see what it does. The pinouts are almost identical just different color wires but #8 pin in the middle is for the transmission temo sensor so ill let you know how that goes. Worst case back to the 01 ecu.

Trans temp sensor is part of the governor pressure sensor on all RE transmissions.

Wiring pinouts are different from 96 to 01, I do believe there are differences at BOTH ends of the harness. Grab the 01, and 96 service manuals from the Service manual thread in the FAQ section, and compare.

I installed a 1kohm 1/4 watt resistor into the violet #8 wire on the tranny to valve body harness and put my 96 ecu back in. The trans temp code did show on my scanner but never lit the mil. Drove 120 miles fairly rough and on different inclines. Manually turning od on and off and runs great. Od never disengaged. Several drive cycles in between ill keep experimenting with different resistors to kill that code all together.
