How long does your tranny take to go into reverse?
98 dodge 5.9 with torqueflite tranny. Noticed it takes a second or so to engage in reverse. I feel the clunk and I can spin the tires with the breaks on.. Fluid isn't burnt.. But never seen a tranny with a shift delay like this.
Watcha think?

IMHO. i think this is cause rev requires lots more pressure around 300. if the filter is clogged that makes it worse. and cold makes it worse as well. AND i found an EXTERNAL filter. check it out.
man o man i about forgot yes its a cut & past sorry. __________________
after you clean the trans. add this to your*chrysler*trans. an external fluid filter
1. go to auto-zone. get 2210, its called a power steering filter, but it is for transs to. it is for 3/8 tubing. by (magna-fine) be sure to use high pressure hose. Reff:http://www.magnafilter.com
2. for other sizes wix 58964 5/16 tube size

Plus our trannys don't pump any fluid while in Park. My routine is hop in, turn key to on, foot on brake/or parking brake on, put in Neutral, start. Then after it starts, fasten seat belt, hit the overhead garage door, make sure door is open, put it in Reverse and back out.
Yep, if the check valve is gone, or non-functional..... the torque converter will drain, and will have to refill. This will happen at cold start, or, if it has sat for awhile. Mine does the same thing.
