Blown Rear end!! 94 Ram 1500 4x4
Bummer, today my rear end locked up & blew up. No hint of a previous issue/problem. I need to find a decent used one at a good price. It is a Corporate 9.25 (3.55 Gear ratio).
Any leads would be GREATLY apprecieted.

where are you from? you should check the junkyards. they have a lot of wrecked 2 gen rams laying around and i'm sure they can find some for you if they don't have it. it would also be a lot cheaper than buying from a dealer. just make sure to check it out before you buy it. don't want to buy a rear end that caused the wreck.
Thanks All:
I found 2 in the junkyards (one was 650.00 & the other was 850.00) Man that's pricey. I just found one in a local (Mass) truck mag for 350.00 . It's from a 97 1500 Ram. It is the same gear ratio 3.55. THis should be an exact swap? Or is there any diff (my truck is a 94 - 1500, the one I am buying is from a 97 - 1500. But both are 3.55 gears. Although the one I am buying is advertised as POSI. Is this going to be a issue?
Thanks

It should be an exact swap with the axle on your truck. The POSI they are talking about is actually a Limited Slip Differential (LSD). The factory ones are pretty good. I have never had one fail, I am sure there are some that have but they are pretty tuff.
Should be a direct swap....
take this time however to change the fluids (of course) and since you will have it open and have to bleed it, reaplce and bleed ALL the brakes... the rear, have someone work the bleeder while someone pumps and sopmeone else fills the resivoir...do it until the fluid is clear coming out of each wheel cylinder, the first one is the longest (of course) as you start at teh corner furtherest fromt eh brakes pedal... brake fluid is supposed otbe changed and if you replace it ALL on all 4 corners, you will swear you jsut did a big brake upgrade on how much better it works...

Thanks Matt & Xsputts!
Yeah I know I gota bleed the brake system, good opp to flush the system, while I am at it, I will remove the diff cover & replace the old rear end fluid with new (90wt right?) & install new shocks (just can't put the old ones backl in if I am this far).
As for the POSI aka LSD, is that significantly different from what was in my truck? Cause if not, I got a blown up one to show (if it don't happen too often), I blew the diff gears & the axle shafts! Funny thing it was good one day, parked it & gone the next day, other than a little slop in the drive train (I thought it was a sloppy trannny or engine mount, cause I recently put in new uni joints & it (the slop) did not go away. Now I know what it was LOL.
Thanks for the imput, I'l let you know how it goes.
Ya gotta love forums!
