Default 96 ram 3500 from bumper swap to sport version

Hello all,
Got a quick question. I am finshing some paint work on my buddies 96 3500 and he decided to swap the front bumper to a sport version. I already installed the sport grill(with slight modification, I had to grind off a few tabs as they didnt line up with the holes in the hood). I went to install the bumper and the brackets aren't anywhere close to lining up. I'm kinda lost here. Were there 2 versions of the gen 2 sport bumpers and maybe he bought a newer one? Sucks if thats the case, the bumper is already painted! Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ryan.

Here are some pics for reference:

What year is the truck, and what year truck did the bumper come from? Was the truck originally a sport?

The paint work looks REALLY nice. Wanna do mine?

The truck is a 96 3500 slt dually. The bumper is off a 98 from the looks of the grill. And while it sounds like fun to paint another one of these I'll have to pass!!!

I trimmed the bumper brackets a little and it allowed the bumper to slide in more. Seemed to help. I just have to drill all six holes now. Sux....

Here are some more pics of the paint. All the lettering is painted on. Once I get it all buttoned up with the new wheel covers I'll post more of it complete. I just want it out of my life!

Things changed in 98. Think the bumper brackets are different between sport, and non... (obviously.....)

Sharp Truck. Nice work.
