top end job.
Kinda random but what should a top end rebuild cost? trucks got 180+ thousand and id just like it to run like new again. if possible. runs pretty well right now, a little rich because of the jegs y-pipe, but hasnt been on the road for a little due to no money and needing a new steering gearbox, 20 bucks for seals vs. too much for a new gearbox(will probably rebuild it myself, how hard can it be to replace seals, lol). BUT tax return coming in i should have a little extra left over for it. depending on how much i get back, id like to get a hemifever tune and the top end cleaned up.
Edit: didnt realize i posted this in the tech section, if a mod could move it to general discussion that'd be great. thanks

Are you planning to remove and re-install the heads, intake and exhaust manifolds yourself? If so, you can save quite a bit of money. If the heads aren't cracked, typically a valve job and new valve seals are what's needed, along with getting them cleaned. If you haven't already done the plenum repair, this is the time to have it done, too. You will need a top half gasket kit, too. If you do the labor, price the parts, contact a machine shop for the cylinder head work and you will have your ballpark cost for your area.
Also, if you are doing the top half, you should also consider replacing the timing chain and gear set with a good double roller set and replace the water pump, front cover gasket and the harmonic balancer seal, if they haven't already been done.
