Ok recieved the PCM. Unplugged the batt. Installed it. Drove it. Runs awesome. But still have a engine light. Will check code today after work. Every sensor and tune ups are new. So I wonder what's next.

Ok. I figured it out. I have a msd streetfire cd ignition in my truck so the code it was sending me is the p0351 code for the coil. It was showing excessive spark. So check engine light will be on all the time. Truck runs strong with new PCM. I should have bought one along time ago.

Nice. Cant you read the P codes in the dash with that truck? Key ON, OFF, ON , OFF, and ON real quick. Should give P codes in odometer. If it has a CEL for a P code....it should show up.

I believe there are certain tuners you can run without the CEL being triggered, but I'm unsure of the brands. If you can read the codes in dash, check weekly to make sure nothing else gets triggered. Otherwise get an ODB2 with a phone app.

My first Dodge ever, best thing about it is reading/deleting codes from the PCM without tools(I now have an ODB2). Even with it being totally new in engine/trans/bunch other parts.....title still says 2001 ....

I know this thread is a little old and I have a 3rd gen, (2003 1500 5.7) but I've been fighting the same codes, p0132 and p0138. Earlier today I ordered a PCM from the same place and I was worried that I spend 245 bucks on nothing. But this thread definitely reassures my decision. I'll post back when I get it installed and ran for a bit just to help anyone else having similar issues.

It was easier for me to diagnose as my problem was on old engine O2's and CAT, and followed to new engine, O2's and CAT. I looked at it this way....spend $100+ for diagnosis, and have someone tell you its the PCM(only other possibility is wiring harness), or just spend the $250. Look at it this way....its guaranteed for life now =).

Mine is running strong now also....but everything is basically brand new barring the block, intake, and exhaust mans(ported and polished). Got a whoppin 2K on it now.

Good luck, I'm glad at least I helped Ghost with his. Hopefully it works for u Dcav.

I bought a cheap reader on ebay. $15. Can check and delete codes. Works on all my cars except the old 76. Has saved a lot of time & so far been cheap stuff like egr, coolant sensor etc.

Well, it ran good for a couple days after I installed the new PCM. I thought the problem was gone but then p0132 came back this morning. I was also running these last couple of days with the AC on and this morning I turned it off and then it came back on after a minute or so of driving. It's been driving good though!

So now, I think the cat could be partially blocked and reducing flow and with the AC compressor on it keeps the RPM just high enough to keep the exhaust flowing. If it's not this, I'm stumped.
