Default Engine swap

Has anybody heard of Precision engines? My current truck a 2001 dodge ram 1500 sport 4x4 with the 5.2. I am looking at Precisions 5.2 318 magnum rated at 300hp and 325 torque. My current motor has low compression in 3 cylinders. Did a wet test and it brought the compression up considerably, doing a leak down test tonight to let me know for sure if it's the rings. I not ruling out a head gasket until I do the leak down test. If the rings are bad I am going to put the 318 performance crate motor in it from precision. Has anybody ever bought and and used one of these motors, and if so can you use them in a everyday driver ? Just looking for some reviews and opinions on their motors. Thanks

I don't know if this a stupid question or not, but any idea what the gas mileage will be with this swap? It looks like I'm going to need a new motor in the not too distant future and my 5.9 sucks gas and money equally!

It actually looks like it's fairly well done for the money. I build engines and that's not a bad price considering they have factored in their profits, and I know that I spend more when building a Mopar than I do building a Bowtie.

Shipping would be a few hundred depending on the freight company.

Try a Google search for Precision crate engine reviews.

The 318 will get better gas mileage than the 360, but I would see about keeping the cam stock, and getting a tune from Hemifever that favors economy.

Swapping to a smaller motor probably won't change your gas mileage..... these trucks are just thirsty.
