Cool Motor mounts

Is anybody ever changed the motor mounts on there truck before. How hard is it and where do you lift the engine to take the weight off of the motor mounts?

I used a short piece of 2x4 against the oil pan rail to support the motor when I did the freeze plugs behind the mounts. Put it on my floor jack, jacked it up enough to take pressure off the mount, and the rest was cake.

So they will come out, without taking off the exhaust manifold. It does not look like their will be enough room. And you really didn't lift the engine up with the lift, you just took the pressure off the mounts correct. I will do one at a time.

I think I picked it up maybe a half inch or so, to make the mount easier to remove.

I'm about to pull the mounts on mine, to install urethane inserts.
The instructions say to crack the through bolts, then jack until the weight is off them (bolt is loose)... change one side at a time, pulling the trough bolt and removing the bolts into the block.
I'm sure you could jack from the sump rail, or the front flange of the bell-housing.

Spillage, where did you find the urethane motor mount inserts?

Got mine from Amazon, but I'm sure you could Google them elsewhere.
You should be able to get them for ~$40.

Look for "Energy Suspension 51114R Cummins Engine Mount Insert"
Replace the "R" (red) with "G" (black) in the part number as you require.
The diesel and gas mount have the same isolator, so this insert fits.

Great! Thanks for the info.. Looks like the center steel portion of the mount is reused (where the center bolt passes through).

These inserts press into the voids in the stock isolator, to stiffen them against torque deflection.

Spillage, what was the symptom that replacing the mounts fixes?....or what does going with the urethane improve?
