Default Modifying track bar bracket...

I was wondering if anybody has opted to modify the track bar bracket to compensate for lift kits on 2nd gen rams. Im a cheapskate, but Im not one to try and kill myself. Im pretty decent at fab work and it looks like adding on to the original track bar bracket where the bushing goes would be doable and cheap. Itd save a lot considering good adjustable track bars are high $$$. Besides that, I have a lot of bills coming and I just don't have the money even if I wasn't cheap and I just bought a new track bar not long ago because the ball joint went out on the other one.

I would be more tempted to fab up something for the ball joint end, so you could use the third-gen style track bar, that has bushings on both ends. The ball joint end is the part that is most likely to cause replacement on the stock second gen track bars.

This bracket kit will allow the use of the later model track bar. I use it with Solid Steel's adjustable track bar. Shop around - several vendors sell it or one like it.

Okay! Thats what I looked into before but I forgot about them. I couldn't locate a bracket and I needed to have my truck. Now don't get mad at me, but I think I could fab a bracket that is sturdier than that. That one looks skimpy and I like to over do things. Also, solid steel is pretty pricey....

That bracket is a lot beefier than it looks - the picture is deceiving. As I mentioned, be sure to shop around - that same style bracket is sold by several online vendors.

Don't worry - not mad at all - just passing along/sharing info and I'm perfectly happy with my truck's setup.

Cool. I have been searching around and came up with THIS.

Moneys been tight and everything I can do to save a penny is appreciated. This one is extremely light duty compared to what I would do. Id use double bushings like the 2003 rams do. Also, I have a third point arm pivot and 2 arms laying around off a tractor we junked because a bearing went out which destroyed the casing. Uses a 1.25-1.5 inch NF thread coupler that shortens and lengthens arms. About 3 inches wide so it is BEEFY. Bolts would shear off long before it would ever break. I still have my old track bar so I would just have to use the bushing end off of it and cut the ball joint off the new one. Would have to keep angles right, but I think itd be awesome to save money and have a trackbar stronger than any other on the market Thanks for the help though, but college is this fall, cows, cnc machine build, and tires that are needing replaced in the next 5k miles are sucking me dry.

Nice ideas. If you fab up your own setup, please be sure to share step-by-step pictures with us so that other can learn from your fabrication endeavors.

I completely understand the tight funds issue. Definitely has a way of making us look at all types of options.
