Default NEED HELP!! abs & brake light on same time! 1997 dodge 1500 5.9 2wd

I've got a 97 1500 2wd. Brake light and ABS came on at the same time. I have done the only abs sensor in the rear diff. I also did the speed sensor on the trans. I have fluid, and it seems to be stopping and braking fine. I totally re-did the drums last year, springs, shoes, wheel cyls, everything. i have checked all the brake lines and junctions and cannot find a leak. it does not read a code from the reader at auto zone. would i know if a caliper was hanging up? i only have one caliper i have not done... but brakes look good and it does not pull when i slow down. i have also checked the fuses. any ideas??? i have also unplugged the battery and the lights come right back on.

Brake switch, or parking brake switch will also **** off the ABS system.

Will the parts store code readers actually read ABS codes?

I have run into that same problem with my 99 and I even bite the bullet and took it to a repair shop to have them use their ABS scanner on it to check what was causing it. Mechanic said my ABS and braking system is working great and there are no codes that show up for the the lights to be on. He had no explanation why the lights were on and he just told me to drive the truck and ignore the lights on in the dash.

I would be really interested what you find that will cure this problem because I am at a point where I am no longer going to put anymore time or money trying to fix this idiot light problem. My oldman wants me to put black tape over the lights or pull the bulbs but I am not going to do that because that requires taking the dash out.

yeah. luckily, i had just got it inspected a few weeks before it started happening. it drives as well as the day i got it, but the lights drive me crazy. The only curve ball could be... i do have trailer brakes installed, but ive never used them. its the way i bought it. could that have anything to do with it??

I was actually thinking the same thing earlier today when I found I have the factory Chrysler trailer plug (big round one) with a Chrysler symbol on the debris flap to keep out crap from getting into the plug itself.

My oldman helped me test it out with a test light while I pressed on the brake and turn signals and headlights but wasn't able to test the trailer brake prong until I actually hook to a trailer with trailer brakes to see if it works.

I chased the same problem in my 1998 Durango. Tech told me to ignore them so for several years I did just that. Before that, I priced an ABS control module thinking it was a sticky relay or something. No codes...just guesses.

Well, in the end, I replaced the speed sensor in the top of the rear end housing. Both lights went out after I reset the IGN with the battery disconnected.
