Default Fuel rail removal

I was wondering how hard it is to take off the fuel rails. Mine are real rusty and the ones on my parts truck loom a lot better. I'm not sure if there leaking from the rusty ones they look a little wet and I can smell gas a little. Just wondering if it's something I can do in the driveway real easy. Thanks

Mine weren't real easy that's for damn sure! I couldn't even get them off with the manifold still in the truck...I had to remove the entire intake manifold with the rails still attached, set it on the ground so I could brace it with my foot, and then tug and pull the rails with a pair of channel locks until finally the stupid things popped off. I didn't damage anything in the process so it all ended up ok...just freakin frustrating!

Luckily, I was installing my hughes airgap so the manifold had to come off anyway...I made sure to grease the new o-rings on the injectors real nice so that hopefully I won't have that problem again if I ever change injectors! I'm sure the difficulty of this task varies greatly from truck to truck

Yeah if you're gonna be doing that anyway, just wait til then! That way you can just deal with them when you already have the manifold off...will be much easier. While you have the manifold off it's also a good time to do new wires, cap, and rotor...it's super easy to do with that big keg out of the way, not so easy with it on the engine.

Lube the orings in the manifold a bit before you try and pull the injectors out. Makes life a little easier....

Ok thanks guys. Not sure when il be doing it yet but hopefully soon. Running low on $ right now from doing my o2s and cat but I'm hoping to do it as soon as I can. I'm a little nervous since everything is so rusted and I don't wanna break any bolts since I don't have the tools to fix it if I do lol

Soak them in PB blaster then use a pry bar under the rail and they will pop right out ! I have done many of them this way ! People that don't know how to work on vehicles take the intake off just to pull on it ? WTF

Any advice on how to get the new injectors to go back in? I can't get the new ones to stay in. I put oil on the orings and everything

I use grease ! Try to twist them in kinda or use a dead blow hammer and tap them in slightly without breaking them ! It not that hard to do !
