So I ordered a new check valve and bought a new egr, didn't want to mess with trying to clean it... I installed the egr that night (last Sunday) and have not had any check engine light come on since. I just got a call saying my transmission coolant line is in and ready for pick up. Any idea why my check engine light is no longer on after changing to a new egr if I was receiving a code for transmission temp? Thanks ahead of time, and I still plan on changing out
the line to the new one.

Leave the check valve out of the trans line. It only causes trouble.

Does your truck actually HAVE the temp sensor? On yours, it is installed in the cooler line at the front of the trans, right near where it comes out.

I am not sure if I have a temp sensor or not, I have been looking and am not really sure what to look for. Here is what I am looking at:

You have the lug for the sensor, but, the sensor itself is either broken, or, simply plugged. It is on the lower line there, just above where the shift linkage hits the trans. Check and see if that really is the sensor. Looks like the connectors may have broken off of it.

So the temp sensor is on the actual line, not connected directly to the trans? I am assuming you are talking about the cooler line that starts left of the shift linkage and goes behind it, then up to that 'ball' with the lug on it... correct? I appreciate your help!

Just went and checked it. I did not see any wires that were broken/not connected. It seems to be a simple bolt that was just inserted, so I am assuming it was just plugged. Since I was getting the 37-code, that is why, correct? Also, even if I bought a new temp gauge, I did not see any wires to hook it too.

They may be stuffed up on top of the trans somewhere. May have been cut off too for that matter..... Does your truck have the tow, or heavy duty, or plow option package? (build sheet will tell you.)

Just pulled up my equipment list, did not see anything about a tow/plow package however, I have aftermarket tow hook-ups.

Any one of the three packages I listed would include the trans temp sensor.... if you don't have any of them..... wouldn't be the first time a computer whined about something it never had. (I have seen folks getting knock sensor codes, and these trucks NEVER had one.....)
