Default Leaf Mount

What's the easiest way to do the rear leaf mount? And what's a good mount brand? The mount just broke this afternoon unfortunately.

Rear spring shackle. Should be able to order one up right from your local parts store.

I would be tempted to get new bolts as well, and just blow those fellers off with a torch. Or drown them with chems several times before you try and take them off.....

Yeah, those bolts are seriously going to suck getting off.

Well, consider where they hang out.

I wouldn't recommend it. The spring will eventually beat its way THRU the bed. Pick up a new shackle, and just fix it. Probably less than 50 bucks.

Would a ratchet strap temporarily hold it? I literally have nothing else to drive and won't be able to properly fix it until Thursday

Is welding an option? You could tack it for the time being and drive very very carefully.

A ratchet strap "might" work for a while. But remember that it is the suspension of the truck and there is a lot of weight on the back shackle

It might for a little while, but, sharp, rusty edges, and bumps in the road, will most certainly cut the strap in fairly short order.

You should be able to get away with it for a day or so.... just don't do any long distance driving, and try and avoid bumpy roads. (yeah, I know, where I live, ALL the roads are bumpy......)

I've got some pretty strong straps. Thank you guys. Youre really helpful. Fortunately I only drive 20 miles a day round trip.
