Question 4.7 to 5.9 swap

Hey folks.

I have a 2001 Jeep Grand cherokee with a 4.7 v8. The engine jst started knocking and I was wondering if anyone knows if a 5.9 out of a Dodge ram will fit.

Both have auto trans with o/d

Will the pcm handle the different motor??

Thanks in advance,

Brad

P.S. I will be rebuilding the 4.7.

They put the 5.9 into the Cherokee at one time.... so, Will it fit? Yes. BUT, (and you knew that was coming) The motor mounts are different, the wiring harness is different, the bellhousing bolt pattern is different, trans harness that's in there won't plug into the 46RE, the PCM won't have a clue how to run either the engine, or the trans.

Not a simple swap, certainly not for something on just a temporary basis.

Thanks fellows.

I kinda though so...

I guess I will get to test my rebuilding skills on the 4.7.

Will take some pics and follow up.
