While you've got the cover off, is there side to side play in the differential? Can you move it left or right any?

Park on flat ground, chock your tires, put transmission in neutral, and crawl under the truck and push/pull your drive shafts at each u-joint with all your weight. Is there any play in them? Front axle u-joints new?

Does it make a difference if you are driving and hear the noise and you shift the transmission into neutral? Do NOT overshoot and accidentally go in to reverse at 70mph.... I think you can just bump the shifter up in to neutral without having to pull it towards you.

just ideas...

Everything seems tight.

All u joints in the driveline are less then 4 months old. All moog problem solvers.

Waiting for rtv to seal before filling up. Going on a test run tomorrow morning. Hopefully my problems will go away

Well now it's seems that it's nice and smooth until the truck is warmed up. Then it comes back. Could be my imagination.

Idk, diff oil change seemed to help some. But still something wrong. Sorry I know that's not very helpful.

Soooooo, any other ideas? Getting an alignment tomorrow and gonna change the front diff fluid this weekend.

Looks like I will be checking wheel bearings this weekend also.

Running out of ideas though....

I just had it in inspected. They check everything pretty thoroughly. They found bad wheel bearings last year. But that was with the 44.

So what do you think is wrong with the front diff?

Ok I got an alignement. It didn't help. Front diff was pretty low on fluid. Couldn't fill any just poking my pinky in and feeling a round.

Filled that up and took a test drive. Still there at 75 mph.

Played around with 4x4. Everything seemed to work fine. Only odd thing was in 4 lo going in reverse I could here a faint whining/whirling sound.

Help!

My 1500 did that. I must've replaced everything before I noticed the long drive shaft had lost the balancing weight....

Whining/whirring in 4lo is pretty normal. Got that gear reduction thing going on in the t-case.
