Default Timing set confusion

I am doing research bassackward. I assembled parts for a shop to do plenum plate, water pump and timing set while she was down. I just asked for a cloyes double roller at the store with a big O in their name. After a month of the timing set being in I decided to look up the part number with what others were using on some recent posts.
I got the 3028x cloyes. Cloyes list the application up to 1991 engines. According to some research I've read, the LA and Magnum engines both use a Cloyes double roller. Does anybody know if there is any real difference between the Cloyes 3072, which is supposed to work on both engine styles and the Cloyes 3028x timing set??

3028x is Heavey duty street:
Heavy Duty Sets feature:
• Cast Iron Cam Sprocket
• Induction Heat-Treated, Billet Steel Crank Sprocket
• Heavy Duty .200 or .222 Diameter Double Roller Chain
• Set is 100% Made in USA
High Quality / Low Cost Performance
Cam sprockets machined from cast iron, induction hardened crank
sprockets, .200” diameter double roller chains for small blocks or .222”

double roller chains for big blocks. These sets are the industry’s most

3072 is economy timing set:
Sprockets Are Made From High Alloy Steel, And Heat-Treated For Durability. Chain Is Pre-Stressed And Heat-Treated For Longevity.

Better quality in the 3028x.

As said above, the 3072 timing chain is a cheap economy replacement.

I ordered a Cloyes C3028X timing chain set for my truck, its a heavy duty replacement. I ordered it from rock auto.

Cool, thanks for the feedback.! It was a last minute decision to do the timing set, so I'm glad I didn't get the 3072. Luck goes both ways.
Hopefully this will help someone else down the road. Yes, the C3028X timing set will work on the magnum engines.

Do you guys have pictures of your c3028x sets? I want to see if it's different than mine because mine didn't fit.

The keyway on the cam sprocket is made for a one size larger woodruff key than the stock magnum so there is play between the cam gear and the cam.

Swap it out. Probably a machining goof that made it past QA.

Sorry no pics. I had Dan's replace mine. I just bought the parts. I had questions because someone on here said they contacted Cloyes tech line and were told 91 was a cutoff year for the c3028x set. I looked on Cloyes website and could not find that information.
