Default AC question

I know its about that time of year when everyone is asking about AC stuff and what not. Well here's my question, when the AC is completely out of freon, does the compressor not kick in at all? Was kind of curious before I bought the refill kit. 98 Ram 1500 318 4x4 Club Cab, Two Door.

Correct...having extremely low freon pressure will trigger the low pressure switch on the compressor and it won't cycle on and off at all. Running the compressor with low pressure in the system will damage it...

When I refill it, should I do the front one near the radiator first or the rear next to the motor?

Fill from the low-pressure side only. That is also the side you want to pay attention to your pressure, so you know when it is full.

The refill kits only fit one fitting. You cant screw it up.
