There are design changes thruout the years for the B series cummin's. That may determine what year you want to use.

I have now decided that I want to do a 6bt engine. I just want the more power even though its heavier. So since i am doing the 6bt i will have to increase the suspension to 3/4 ton right? What else will I have to do and if anybody has any pictures that would be great! Thanks

D60 front axle with 2500 diesel springs, D70 rear with 3" leafs (youll need to swap spring hangers to accomodate the 3/4 ton springs), 47re auto or nv4500 (nv5600 even better) manual trans, 241DHD transfercase are what id say off the top of my head. Check out Ham Bones thread on his axle swap, https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...a-60-swap.html . A 12V will be much easier to set-up then a 24v.

That link sends you to the engine that I am looking at. Will that 6bt 12v fit in my 1998 dodge ram 1500 sport?

Sure, bodies forward of the firewall are the same on all the trucks. Engine will fit right in there rather nicely. Just take some work.....

As an alternative.... if you can find a donor truck, that the engine/trans/drivetrain are all intact, may want to consider just fixing THAT up. Lot less work.

Is there a certain type of donor truck I should look for?

If you want the 12v, 94 to (some) 98 dodge trucks had it. In 98.5? they went to the 24v.
