Steering Stabilizer Help
I need a new steering stabilizer on my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. I didn't want to spend the money on a dual setup as I'm only running 33"s and have never had a major problem with the factory one on there. I wanted something a little better than the factory one though and looking online it looked like Skyjacker H7017 was what I needed. Well, I got it today and it has the eyelet on the one side that slides into the bracket on the axle and the bolt runs through it. However, the other side also has an eyelet like you'd put in a bracket and run a bolt through. The factory setup here had a shaft on a joint coming out of it, like you'd see on a ball joint or similar. It ran through the tie rod and had a nut holding it on. This one obviously can't do that. Do I need to send it back and just get a factory one, or can I just find a bolt that will fit and stick it through the eyelet on the shock and and put a nut on it on the other side of the tie rod. I'm assuming it won't pull the bushing out, but I'm not 100% sure.
What do you guys think? Is there a different one I need to get, or should I just get a Monroe or similar replacement that's setup like the factory one? Any suggestion on which part # to get? Thanks guys.

I'm running 285/75/16 tires along with a Rough Country steering stabilizer/damper (factory style HD replacement steering damper), a Borgeson steering box and a steering stabilizer - links to the stabilizers are noted below:

I'm very happy with my steering using these parts.

If you go to advance auto, they may even offer a heavy duty stabilizer as well as the stock Monroe version...I know that there was a heavy duty option available for my jeep back when I wanted a bigger stabilizer for my lift. I think it might even be a moog brand one...
Different brands....different countries of origin...moog tends to be very overpriced from places like advanced auto or autozone...have you tried rock auto? The beefier stabilizers are going to be more expensive though. Just remember, you get what you pay for when it comes to truck parts.

Thank you for making me spit my drink on my monitor. Thank you very much for that.

Putting useless stabilizers on a truck.
The last topic clearly showed everybody should remove them. Even factory installed ones.
