gas tank strap nut is spinning freely... help!

Default gas tank strap nut is spinning freely... help!

so currently trying to replace the brake line between the gas tank the frame... and im trying to open the tank straps...

the problem is that the rear one somehow the whole bolt is spinning, instead of the nut. The front one came off after some fighting...

how can I get the rear one off? help!

if i have to cut it, whats the replacement?

Don't drop the tank. Just run the new line and leave the old one.

As mentioned, there is no need to lower the gas tank to snake a brake line along the frame rail. It will easily fish along the frame rail with the fuel tank in-place. If you really want to lower the fuel tank for some other reason, be sure to get a grasp on the nut (with a proper sized box end wrench or a good set of pliers) above the bolt holding the fuel tank strap to the frame and the bolt should some out fine to free the fuel tank strap.

thanks guy! i actually ended up doing just that... snaking it through.

i'll show you a photo of it, but the nut above didn't have anything to grasp onto...

luckily i was able to snake it though, but that nut is resting nicely about 1/4 lower than at the very top. it wouldn't budge at all.

Cut it off, and replace it.
