Default V10 miserable sound

hello,
IŽve already searched the forum, but I couldnŽt find a satisfying answer for my problem.

IŽve got a 01 Ram 2500 V10 and it sounds like shaking tin can.
As I owned the car, I didnŽt mind about that, but till now it disturbs me more and more.

Currently there is a selfmade dual exhaust system on it, with two catalytic converters.
Is it possible to purchase a dual sytem for my car and especially where can I buy such a system (IŽm living in Austria).
I prefer a dual exhaust system, but if a single one sounds better I would install this one on my car.

I hope sombody of you have a bit expirience with this exhaust system on the V10.

IŽll be thankful for every hint to get a better sound out of my vehicle.

Thanks for your efforts,
Peter

I'm not a V10 owner but is this tin can sound coming from the engine or is that just how the exhaust sounds?

on my v-10 i went through about 10 different exhaust setups before i found something i liked, it was still no v-8 but it was tollerable, i wemoved the converters, and in their place i put 2 flowmaster 40 series 2 chamber mufflers, and kept it true dual all the way out the back, but also had to add an H-pipe before the mufflers (closer to the front of the vehical) to tone down the raspy noise, with that it was somewhat decent sounding

The V10's are very susceptible to ping or detonation. It will sound like rattling in a can sometimes. How old are the spark plugs and wires? I would start there and see if it helps. My V10 will ping on the winter blend fuels they sell around here. I usually have to change my sct tune from 93 to 91 or 87 from december to april to control it.

I am wondering if he is complaining about the marbles in a can, or, the way his exhaust sounds.

hello, sorry for my late response !

IŽll try that setup with the two flowmaster 40 series 2 chamber mufflers and hoping for a better sound.
The only problem with this setup is, the authorities here in Austria are really strict with the emission laws and if a cut out the converters the emissons wonŽt fit to the car.
But nevertheless, IŽll trying out the setup and IŽll keep my old setup in reserve if some nice guys from the police wonŽt accept my new exhaust setup.

Greeting from Austria,
Peter
