Default 2000 1500 5.2 4x4 Transmission swap question

In need of transmission replacement. Truck is 2000 4x4 318 auto. I have a 2001 Durango 5.9 4x4. I believe the torque converter is different, because of balance. What else would be an issue with this swap?? Thank you in advance for your help. Wanting to get this swapped this weekend, but want to not go in blind.

Thanx

I think the converter is the ONLY difference there. Don't re-use the old one. Get a replacement from the parts store, or some similar place. Get a GOOD one, the 80 dollar stock replacements are just as worthless as the originals.

Is there a difference in the electronics? Or neutral safety? Something some where I read may have said a 3 pin in truck and 5 pin in Durango. Is this right and if so is there a fix?

If one of the switches is different, just swipe it off your old trans. The trans itself, and all internal electronics, should be exactly the same.

Nope. Anything that doesn't quite match up, should just screw in, or have some variety of clamp holding it in place.

Definitely let us know how it goes.

Hint: Pull the crank sensor off the engine BEFORE you drop the trans out of the truck. Save you from having to buy a new one.
