Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement
I am looking for information that anyone might know of on a DIY for ignition lock cylinder replacements.
The problem started 6-8 months ago when turning the engine off I would have to wiggle the automatic shift lever to get the key to turn to the off position so that I could get the key out.
Would any of it be associated with looseness in the automatic shift lever. Meaning as the vehicle has aged when I shift to drive or reverse it doesn't slide and lock into place but has to be wiggled slightly to get it into the right position or you overshoot.
Now it is starting to stick when I start it and I have to kind of work it back to keep the starter from staying on.
I have tried spraying lube in to the key slot.
Are there any threads that you can point me to? I have done a search and came up empty.
After the change do you have to have 2 separate keys one for outside doors and one for the ignition? How easy is a rekey?

The ignition switch (which I think is where your problems are coming from) can be replaced, and just swap your old lock cylinder into it. No need to re-key, or have two keys for your truck.
Think it would have a look at the shift linkage first though, get everything tightened up good, and adjusted properly. See if that doesn't solve it. (the bushings and such are still available from Dodge.)
