Default low to no idle up and down idle

Hey again all. well just replaced my Throttle body and idle air control valve (IAC) and MAP sensor. hopping to help my gas mileage and idle problem. well it did help a little on gas mileage , but I still have the low to no idle and up and down idle. Any ideas? oh and not getting any codes at all.

i once had a surging idle, up and down and up and down, from 500 to 1500 to 500 to 1500, and it was the TPS.

throttle position sensor. drivers side, center of throttle body. electrical connector attached. two #25 torx. about $40-50 at local parts store. get one with lifetime warranty, such as Advance. use discount code TRT30 for 30% off.

well replaced it and its still doing it. now here is the strange part. I have a drain on my battery and have never been able to fine the problem. ok forget that in other words I have a disconnect on my battery and disconnect it daily. the idle problem wont just start right off it have to be driving and running for 20/30 mins before the eng lite comes on and the idle problem starts. I can disconnect the battery wait 5 mins reconnect it and the problem goes away. Until I drive it 20/30 mins. really weird.

When you disconnect the battery, the ECM resets to default values until it learns your engines sensors and conditions... this is taking 20/30mins in your case.
If the CEL comes on, there should be a code of some sort.

correct the code is 17?? has something to do with 12volts to the tranny. this is the reason I disconnect the battery or it will kill it in a few days sitting, still working on that problem, but has nothing to do with the sudden erratic idle I`m guessing.

dhvaughan and me both where thinking it was the TPS but I just replaced that Monday.

not sure what else could cause a idle problem after 20/40 mins driving or battery being hooked back up.

I said it when they first came out, (sensors are worthless) and makes the company a ton of money. in 40 years of driving I never once replaced the part the sensor was sensing. only the sensor!!

It was the same way for me in the Navy... if you have an out of range gauge reading, it is always the sensor or the gauge, and not the part being monitored.

Try disconnecting the front O2 sensor, and see if the running problem recurs....

Also, swap the trans relay, and the horn relay. See if that doesn't solve that code.
