Just nice and tight. One grunt should be adequate.

Next problem I have. I am putting the alternator back on and I have one cable I can not remember where it goes. It looks like a big ground cable of the black box on the back. Here is a link to a few photos. Let me know if the link does not work.

Page won't load for me.

The fat ground goes to the bolt/stud that the A/C lines also use as a bracket.

Thank you nailed it. As I was connecting it as you said it all came back to me. That was my initial inclination but as it seemed to bolt to an aluminum bracket it just seemed wrong!

Default Update

First of all thanks to everyone for your inputs. I got everything back together and it is running.
When I drained the radiator it was quite mucky so I am doing a flush on that right now (Peak Flush and Clean using distilled water). I am thinking when I drain it this weekend or next I may purchase the Peak flush fit to really flush the cooling system. As point of informationthe radiator cracked on my this past fall and I replaced it so it is a new radiator. Any concerns about doing this?
Once I had everything back together I know longer have a working temperature guage. I am guessing I missed plugging something up and from what I can tell there is a temperature sensor and a temperature sending unit. The temp sensor as I understand it is behind/under the a/c compressor and communicates with the PCM. The temp sender is locater next to the heater core hose and connects to the guage. The problem I see with this is when I look at where the temp sender is located it looks as if it has been gone a long time and the one connector I have loose has been loose for a while and would not connect to the sender anyway. Am I misunderstanding something? If I am not does anyone know where I can get the pigtail to connect to the sending unit when I replace it? I will try to get some photos this weekend and post so you can see what I am talking about. I am planning on trying to tackle this at the same time I do the radiator flush (probably next weekend) since I need to drain the radiator to get to the sensors.
Thanks again

Yep, two sensors for engine temp. A two wire version, which is for the PCM, which should be just to the drivers side of the thermostat housing, and a single wire version, for the gauge, which should be to the passenger side of the housing. It ain't real easy to see/get to either......

Shouldn't be any problems flushing a new radiator. having a lot of sludge in a new one though.... yeah, I am thinkin' a flush would be a REALLY good idea.

Do you know where I can get a new pigtail to connect to the sending unit if I need to?

LMC Truck should have them. Local auto parts stores may also be able to get them. Dealer most certainly should be able to. Junk yard is yet another option.
