Default 95 5.2L dies when put into gear

A friend of mine has a 95 5.2L that was running fine. Then one day it died when he put it into Rev. It has spark cuz he said it would run on starting fluid. It will start again in 3-5 mins if you shut the key off, not if you don't. I check and it has no Inj pulse width when it's a no start. I scanned it with a friends Blue Point little scanner. At first I had an heated O2 and a crank signal code. Then I disconnected the battery and touched the cable ends to clear all codes and memory. Then all I ever got was a trans temp code, never a crank sig code, even tho I made it die several times. It's not just reverse that it dies, but drive also.

I'd put a noid light on an injector and see if it flashes, might be a pcm issue (injector pulse width makes me go there) could also be iac, clean it and the passages really well (one of those should be done periodically anyway things)

Loss of injector pulse could also be cam, or crank sensor.....

if you got a crank code previously, and it was dying when put into reverse, then replace the crank sensor. my buddys truck did the same thing. ran fine in park, but stalled once put into reverse. replaced the crank sensor, and all was, and is good.

Default Here we go again- POS

So my friends truck started dying again. Now we're getting a lack of Cam sync code. 54 I believe. Called NAPA and they don't even list one. I'm assuming a cam sensor.....or a PCM. Any thoughts on the crank thrust bearings being worn and the crank moving frontwards and backwards? unlikely I know, but we never had a cam code before. Thanks for any help.
