So since I do not have a sport bumper (lets say my truck is still a sport truck though) would y'all believe a non sport brush guard would fit then?

Not for a '98 Sport... the matching painted top cap came with the step down in the top of the bumper (deeper grill), '99 I believe (your example).
The '98SST had a painted top cap.

I got my '98 Sport from the factory, so I'm not guessing on the '98 Sport... the stock configuration I am having an educated guess at.

So i am trying to use the vin decoder tool here on dodgeforum, it literally tells me everything about my truck except what sub model it is. Other places I might be able to find this info?

The early Sport trucks had body color bumpers and grill, and that was about the only difference. If you painted a stock bumper, it became a 'sport' bumper. In mid 98, things changed. The front bumper was completely different, and it went from a two-headlight system, to a four-headlight system. If you have the single bulb headlights, then, sport designation or not, the 'non-sport' accessories will bolt right on.

Woot If HeyYou says im good to go, im good to go Now kind of a side question, was there any other changes for the sport model besides the headlights/ bumper/grille? Like any actual performance changes?

Not that I am aware of. So far as I know, it was purely an appearance package.
