Default Why does everyone hate the sport model?

My truck is a 1998 ram 1500 SPORT. Everytime I go looking for accessories (such as looking for a brush guard) the majority of the guards say "fits all models. Except sport". What is the big deal about my truck being a sport model?

your bumpers are colored matched to your trucks. Thats about it. The bumper is entirely different from the standard bumper.

Oh yeah your headlights dont suck as bad either lol

Every sport model truck I've seen has the bumper painted to match the color of the truck and is typically all plastic. Can you provide additional details as to how your front bumper is setup?

The headlights on the non-sport trucks can easily be converted to run sport headlights. I'm about to do that mod. It consists of trimming the fender behind the headlight for clearance and run an adapter harness for the sport style headlights.

i just bought regular headlights a year ago. SO i am going to go the relay route. Supposed to make them a lil brighter and not melt your headlights switch

at OP

the bumper is different so the brush guard would need to be different. There are just a small amount of sport models while every other dodge ram made from 94-01 has the exact same bumper and front end. So why make a special brush guard for a limited audience?

that said. Maybe some of them would fit and they just say that becuase it might require modification so they want to cover their own *****

My '98 Sport has a steel color-co bumper with a black plastic trim on the top edge.

As to the headlights; I believe the early '98 Sport has a one piece headlight the same as the stock '98, but the mid-late '98 Sport has a two piece headlight, which is why the "except sport" line comes into play.

1 & 3 are painted to match the body, 2 & 5 are black plastic.
Stock, 1 is chrome, and I think 3 is grey.

Here some pictures i just took of my bumper. To add to this, my bumper is some type of metal, not plastic.
