Default Trail Carnage.. help :\

Well, as some of you know I swamped the truck the other day and it spent 4 days on the trail. I've got tons of issues and lots of noises but I'm going to start with the biggest problem first..

Tranny doesn't have 3rd gear. I've changed my fluid twice now. Tranny seems to shift fine and has no issues in P,N,R,D,2,1 except that in D in wont go into 3rd and because of that wont go into 4th. Does anybody have any idea? Is my transmission cooked? :\

Possibly something sticking in the valve body. Did you get water into the trans?

Oh yes. Tranny was milky. I changed it on the trail and once I got out it was milky again so I changed it tonight. No shavings. Drove home 50 miles on the highway with only 2 gears :\ Every gear works fine. PRND21 all work like they should except when in Drive 3rd or 4th don't engage. Only 1st and 2nd. I'm wondering if this is "limp mode" or something. Also, at one point in thick mud the tranny would "seize up" so.. :\ tranny was in gear and the motor was turning but the wheels weren't. Had to get winched out because of that. After it wasn't under heavy load it was fine but I never got into 3rd on the trail. I don't think it's cooked because everything else works good

I'm not trans expert, but sounds like a stuck valve or something in the valve body.

I should also mention that there is random screeching noise that comes and goes when driving that "sounds" like the torque converter area. Could be related to something else entirely.

i was actually going to say sounds like you have a toast torque converter, which could be why its not going into 3rd and 4th at higher speeds, like its not wanting to unlock at the higher speeds. i think i would pull the bell housing cover, and put the truck on jacks and watch and see what happens with the flywheel and everything.

I'm curious, if you drive down the road in 2nd gear, put the truck into neutral then back into drive, will it shift into 3rd then? My first Dodge did that, transmission was going, in addition to many other things.
