Default fuel pressure

well, I'm back with another question on my 01 5.2. I think I heard the rail pressure is around 48lb. will it be fine at 45? right now it's showing 65, and I'm afraid to leave it like it is. by the way, this is an after market pump and return system, not the rams. dave.

65 is too high, unless you are tuned for the additional pressure. 45 would be "ok", that's within the tolerance listed in the service manual.

Do you have an adjustable regulator? Just set pressure to 50 PSI at idle.

I'm not quite sure what to do with it. my system has an external pump running to an s10 filter/ regulator with built in return. I guess the gm set up calls for a higher psi. all the regs. I've found says they only work with a return line, which I already have in place. is there any regulators out there that doesn't require a return line at the reg. itself? the only one I've found is an msd that adjust from 36-45 lb, thus the reason for the first question.

Im guessing here, but the original pump in the tank probably went bad, so someone added an external fuel pump and regulator, and fuel return line like chevys have.

If your truck is running fine, then leave it alone. Otherwise, if you want it to be stock you can get a new fuel pump and sending unit and replace it, then remove all the other stuff that was added.

Adjusts 20-150 psi.
