Default 94 dodge ram 5.2 loss of power and back fire

okay i have been all over this forum. looking for a possible answer to my problem. well a few days ago i had to pull my wife's Honda home because she blow a head gasket. well i get a car trailer and start pulling it home. i get almost there and i start losing power and getting a backfire. so i put it home and start to check it out. i changed all the plugs and wires. did not fix the problem. so i changer the dist. cap and button. still have the same problem. i am getting back fire throw my crab and in my ex-oust. any advice? i can still drive it just need to be really easy on take off and avoid any kinds of hills.

Have you fixed your plenum yet? (check out the stickied plenum thread for more info.)

Remove the front O2 sensor from the exhaust. Go for a drive. Run better? That would be a clogged cat.

Welcome to DF!

Just about every 2nd gen Ram owner has the same problem if they don't fix their plenum.

Not a forum, it's a thread, stickied right at the top of this forum. End-all, be-all Plenum thread.

Is your cat hollowed out? Try disconnecting the O2 sensor, and run without it, see if that helps.

Check engine lite on?

Did you disconnect the O2 sensor or physically remove the sensor from the pipe? Need actually remove it from the pipe.

And in the words of Merch225hp, time for a compression test to see where the motor stands.....
