Default Disabling the factory alarm system on a 2001 Ram 3500 4x4

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 4x4 5.9 Magnum that a friend left for me to repair for him - his water pump blew out. Unfortunately, he left just the key and not the key FOB. When I go to open the truck with the key, the alarm goes off. I opened the hood and disconnected the battery to shut off the alarm. Later, I re-connected the battery cable and the alarm went back to going off yet again. I tried to start the truck to move it over to my garage to start working on it and it seems as though the alarm incorporates a kill switch, too. The truck starts, but will not stay running.

Does anyone know the easiest way to temporarily disable this alarm system?

I think they have cylinder switches on both doors???...? Try to disable it with the other door.

Do you mean disable it by unlocking both the passenger and driver's side doors with the key?

Thanks for the ideas. I finally got the alarm to shutdown by unlocking both doors with the key.

Cool. Yeah that's what I meant sorry. I was assuming the drivers one wasn't working.

Owner had set the alarm with the key FOB, but only left the key with me. I initially unlocked the driver's door and tried to put the key in the ignition and turned it to start, but alarm still kept going. I disconnected the battery and let it set for several hours. Reconnected the battery and alarm went off again. Tried to unlock both the passenger and driver's side door with the key, but the alarm still went off. Last thing I did was to lock and unlock the driver's door with the passenger side door unlocked and it finally did the trick.
