Default 46re rebuild

so I have decided to rebuild my 97 Ram 4x4 tranny, not that it needs a full rebuild but from what I read these trannys are notorious for going out anyway and the truck likes to stick in 2nd unless I manually drop from drive to 2nd and then back to drive. (114000miles) then it will shift to 3rd 4th and od. I just use the truck for pulling an aluminum boat and duck boats around, nothing to strenuous.
Was planning on getting an Alto Red Eagle High Performance rebuild kit (about 275.00 and a rebuilt TC off of ebay).
Anyone see a problem with these choices, and any tips are welcome. I have bought the ATSG rebuild book (looks pretty descriptive). The truck is not a daily driver so I am not in a rush to get it finished.

Don't spend good money on a rebuild, and then install a stock torque converter. That's a waste. The stockers were notoriously weak to begin with. Spend the money to get a GOOD torque converter. Your trans will thank you for it.
