I think the instructions that came with mine said to use the black washers on the holes that are cut out on the side. If you look at the header, some holes are just drilled (so there is metal all around), and some are basically shaped like a C (open on one side). The black washers go on the C's. The order is bolt head - locking washer - black washer - header surface.

If you keep the stock studs (should be 2 on each side), you will not need to use all the bolts provided. I kept the studs at first, but then replaced them with new bolts after I saw how they looked. Also, bolts that take an allen head work much better then the set that comes with the header. They are easier to get to (escpecially in the back) with an allen head then with a wrench. If you decide to use a wrench, a ratcheting wrench (not a ratchet and socket) works best in that tight space.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I just did mine about 3-4 months ago. It is pretty easy.

thanks silver... thats what i figured ... the open holes were for the black washers b/c the amount of washers per the amount of open holes matched up... and did you have a hard time getting the led o rings on? did you have to tap them on with a mallet? thanks again!!!!! im gonna use the new bolts that came with them b.c my old ones are in bad shape.. and ill look into the allen key ones...sounds like a good idea.. thanks agian!

I assume you mean the donut gaskets that go to the y-pipe connections. No, mine slide right on, and were even tight enough that they didn't slide off during install. I would be very careful taping them with a mallet. If you damage them at all, you could have an exhaust leak. Let me know if you have any other questions.

They were less then $400 shipped, which is pretty good for ceramic's I thought. I definelty noticed a difference, but only on the top end. Really made a noticable difference the first time I towed my camper up a mountain pass.
