Default Tranny Swap

I am looking to do a transmission swap on my truck. I have an automatic and I want to go standard. I have a ram sport 1500 with a Jasper 5.9 engine in it. Beyond the basic parts for a standard tranny I'm not sure what I need. I've been doing some research but I am wondering if anyone has some tips on how to best do the swap. Please and thank you

I am about to do the same thing. I am getting rid of the 46RH for a NP435. I have a few unique issues since my transmission never came behind a Magnum engine.

What transmission are you wanting to swap in? The stock option was the NV3500 or you could upgrade to a NV4500 from the 2500/3500 trucks.

Basicly you need these parts from your year vehicle and engine combo.

Flywheel

Clutch Kit (includes through out bearing and Indler bearing)

Crankshaft Bushing (usually comes with a bearing in it from Rockauto)

CPS (Crank Sensor...supposedly you can shim the auto one to work. Ill see soon)

Transmission

Bellhousing (NV3500 is built in)

Clutch Fork (if your transmission doesn't have one)

Mastercylinder and slave assembly (comes filled and bled with reservoir)

Pedals ( I found a set on ebay, just the pedals as the brackets are the same, pull pin remove old and install new pedals)

Driveshafts (lengths will be different)

Transmission mount

Computer (yours will be looking for an auto transmission, my OBDI doesn't care )

Thank you for the list of parts I will defintily make note of that. I was thinking of just doing a stock swap to start with to make sure I can get everything to work. Its going to take me some years to save up for all of it anyways. Im assuming I need a computer from a standard and not an auto?

Are you going to have to cut into your body at all? I think I have to do it to add the third pedal and to get my gear box into place.

Also any ball park on price? I won't be paying anyone to do it for me (unless they help with labor lol) but I'm guessing 5 or 6 grand tops.

I have about $950 in parts. This doesnt include a computer or driveshafts. Ill do th labor myself. If I would have gone with the NV3500 it would have cost about $1500.

Ill have to cut a hole for the shifter. The pedals are a factory part, the hole for the master Cylinder is already there. Its one of the easier parts of the whole swap.

That nice to know I'm going to start looking into getting parts and all of that and I'll keep you update. Thank you so much.. This may sound like a stupid question but why do you have to switch the driveshaft?

Manual transmissions are shorter then autos so you need a longer drive shaft

Only thing to worry about on the drive shaft is length and spline count. But I think all the gas stuff is the same. I don't remember tho.
