If you can.... find a complete truck that has the trans you want. Buy the whole truck. (it's actually cheaper that way.....) Or, find a donor in the junkyard, and pull everything off the truck. Need to wiring harness as well. (not an absolute requirement, but, makes for a neater install.)

If you are going to go thru the trouble of doing this, look for the NV4500. There is a reason the NV3500 never came stock behind a 5.9.

That makes a lot of sense. ohhh okay I never knew that. So if I buy a donor truck I'll need to look for a 2500? or bigger?

Most difficult part to find is the pedal assembly...

Didn't the NV3500 come stock behind 5.2?

I agree with finding a whole truck for parts. It does simplify things.

In 1500s yes

It gets weird in the 2500s as some came with NV4500s and some came with NV3500s according to the junkyards that I was hunting through.

I think the lite duty 3/4 tons could actually come with the 5.2, and NV3500.... the HD guys, I don't think ever came with the 5.2?

My '98 1500 came with 5.2 & NV3500... and a 231HD transfercase.
5.9 gas was auto only.

2500 was 5.9 gas and up.

I believe the NV3500 was used in 94-95 2500 light duty.

From what I can find, the NV3500 was used in;
94-01: Ram 1500
94-95: Ram 2500 LD

4x4 version has a different housing.

Actually, its "The NV4500 will live longer behind the 5.9 than the NV3500." It is a MUCH heavier duty trans.
