New mods for my Ram?
A lot of common mods cause power gains by increasing efficiency and actually increasing MPG. Quite a few have noticed better mileage by installing lower gears. Engine has higher RPM's but isn't working as hard and demanding as much fuel. It's kind of counter intuitive sometimes. Better mileage isn't a good reason for modifying though, you'll never get the payback. Modify because you want to be able to smokem till the wheels fall off.
Haha you make a good point there! I'm gonna have to do it piece by piece if I do it, but I've been looking online and it's really got me thinking now!
For a time, power gains are usually accompanied by some more agressive driving (playing with the new found power), and this would potentially be a negative for your mpg's, but not always.
With sedate driving, you definitely see the mpg improvements.
You can see the mods I have in my sig... I'm a good 4mpg better than before I started.

That's about it... 14.8 is as bad as I've had of recent, and I've seen as good as 15.5 (at each fill up).
awesome. i think thats about as good as it gets with these motors. well done
When new, I ranged 16-19 (manual txm), but that soon went away.
My all time low was 10.2.
What I will say is, the current setup is pretty stable with the mpg's... new had a 3mpg range, but now, no matter how I drive, I only range 1mpg at most, and I have a lot more get up and go.

Save your money and just get a tundra when you can. You will never get any really good power from bolt on mods. Now if you put in a cam, heads and get some slightly larger injectors to feed those mods, then you are looking at about 400+ torque and 320HP. Right now, with the mods in my signature, I would doubt I get 225 to the rear wheels.
But I just hit 80K on my truck, so now is not the time to be doing top end work without overhauling the bottom end.

did you have someone put in those 4.10 gears? I they are stock on the offroad edition, so if someone made you pay them for that "mod" then I would throw a hammer at them.
I would just get a tuner and be done with it. No matter how much power you get, you will still need to replace your:
Power steering pump, steering gear, ball joints and tie rods every 20K, T-case, torque converter (or tranny if you are too late for the converter), U-joints (and axle shafts for the front if your U-joints fail), tracbar/drag-link, plenum...the list goes on. Plus you can never get these darn trucks aligned right.
There is a reason people call a car in a bad state is "dodgy." No matter how many miles you have on a truck it is still an OLD TRUCK.
I had the power steering pump and transfer case (cracked) replaced at around 50K in 2009. I didn't even go offroad and I maybe used the 4x4 twice in the snow when I was living in Arkansas at the time.
