When I get on the gas I hear a ticking sound. It started right after I did the hughes plenum kit any thoughts on what it might be?

 

exhaust leak? Spark knock?

Does the engine run smooth?

 

Exhaust is all good. Just replaced most of it. It sounds like it's in front in the engine compartment and only does it when I accelerate. Not sure what spark knock sounds like but possibly. It gets louder the more I push on the gas and goes away when I let off. It seems to run smooth other than if I let it idle it almost chokes out if it idles to long. It was also starting kind of hard when I was letting it sit for a few days not using it.

 

did you put your sensors on the throttle body on correctly? I messed that up once and didn't have a vac tube for the MAP on. Also could be a misplaced ignition wire. It also could be the heat shield rattling by the manifolds. Sounds just like a ping.

 

I'm almost 100% sure I put it all back right. It went very smooth other than 2 broken bolts. It seems to be coming from the engine. Hard to tell where since it's only when accelerating. Not sure what to do next to figure it out. My mpg seems to have gone up since the plenum fix but it still seems to lack power now.
