If you want true low end grunt and torque, pick up the Odessa EQ heads and stroke a 5.9 magnum motor to 408. My 408 combo will include a Scat 408 rotating assembly, Edelbrock magnum aluminum heads, mild hydraulic roller cam, M1 intake, JBA shorty headers and a free flowing 3" single exhaust. The 4.10 gears will also help a lot, especially if you are running a taller tire.

The EQ/Odessa/Clearwater are the same heads. They will set the heads up pretty much anyway you want them so you're better off calling them to ask what all they can do and the cost.
I talked with the owner of PIE http://www.performanceinjectionequipment.com/ and he recommends the EQ heads over the Indy heads for better flow out of the box. You might want to give him a shout and talk with him for a while about what you're trying to do. You don't have where you are from so I don't know if he would be close for shipping rates or not.
I'm building a 408 stroked 5.9 for my Jeep right now and went with the EQ head, got the 2.02 intake because I knew I was going to go bigger, had the heads drilled for 3/8ths studs and am running Chevy roller rockers. There is a link to the build in my sig so just click on the link and you can read about what I have been doing.

Im in tracy, ca.
Ive been following your build wildman. Wish I had the money to do that...its a no brainer but my truck is not a daily driver but it does get used a lot. And I dont PLAN on pulling the motor...however if i need to I need to. Also do the chevy rockers offer an adjustable rocker? Ive been lookin at harland sharp and the chevy rockers they have they dont offer them in adjustable style...where as the dodge magnum ones they do...and im really looking at getting adjustable rockers.
I was thinking about getting the eq heads but I was told that the indy heads are worth the lil extra money... but also what kind of machining would ya'll do to the heads? I wanna get as much torque as I can. But im only doing heads and cam. So what kind of machining would give me a boost in torque?
Its raining in cali!!!! Sry on my way home and weve been in a drought...so rain is a good thing...lol
