When all is said and done, there are plenty of other things that will make more noise than the timing chain.
Wind noise from the mirrors is one.

Hughes kit includes new intake manifold bolts, and plenum plate bolts.

OP, you'll want to pick up a tube of blue thread-locker for the plenum bolts though. That isn't in the kit.

I ordered the Comp Cams Double Roller set and a Fel Pro timing gasket set. $68 total on amazon. I'll pull the trigger on a fel pro kit for the intake manifold, but id rather not if the hughs gaskets will be okay.

Could someone give me a little education the the 4* maximum advance/retard. Is this something I would want to consider playing with

I think the hughes kits now actually COME with a fel-pro gasket set...... check on that first, just to verify.

The Airgap kit I got earlier his year had "Made in India" gaskets.
I bought my own FelPro.

I went with the S.A. double roller. great fit, quite, great price with the advance auto online discount code.

the comp cams should do you good. I was looking at that one too, just didn't want to wait for shipping or driving 45mins to Summit to pick it up.

glad you went w/Felpro intake gaskets.. Ive bought 3 Dorman intake gasket kits and everyone had HORRIBLE intake gaskets. Unusable. no quality control. So I have 3 sets in the garage, opted for Felpro intake gaskets for all 3 trucks.

Quick tip....... to keep all timing dead on, there will always be tension on the chain (one side will be loose while the other side of the chain will be stiff), take your socket and give it a tiny turn to put slack in the side that is stiff. That way when you pop off the chain and sprockets it doesn't turn on you (even tho it wouldn't turn much)

Happy wrench'n.

I used the Hughes intake gaskets and no problems so far. I did use some non-hardening sealant around the coolant ports.

corners of timing gasket/oil pan gasket
front and rear rubber intake gaskets

water pump I always use the (blue) water pump/thermo rtv.

No.

Timing is controlled electronically by the PCM. I advanced mine 4* and everything ran the same- no discernible improvement. Now that I'm having some (apparent) timing issues I'm wishing I hadn't used the advance key way, just for peace of mind.
