Angry Small Problem Driving Me Crazy

So the leaner/center console/armrest lid on my 01 won't latch. I've tried loosing the post/stud and adjusting it up and down and a lil side to side but still nothing. The button moves fine but I've sprayed some white lithium grease up in the latch and it still won't catch and stay closed. Now every time I put the leaner up the top opens and everything inside falls to the back . Anybody else have this problem? Whats goin on with it?

I don't think so, when I push the button I can see the latch piece move.

Is the latch all there though? Maybe pull the thing it latches to, and see if you can see what is going on with it in your hand....
