Default Opinions of a gas smell and rough idle.

So last night I was out and I notice my cel turned on and then shut off was maybe 5secs. So it's done that before for an O2 sensor that just doesn't work it goes on and off sometimes. So I was driving under 40mph as soon as I got to 45mph the truck started shaking like it was a loose steering piece but those are all tight. So code reader drew code p0301 for cylinder 1 misfire. While I was driving I did smell a light gas odor. My thought is that the spark plug or wire to cylinder 1 is shot so the gas that was being dispensed by the fuel injector didn't burn. So that's where the gas smell came from any input would be great.
Thanks

Symptoms are right in line with a miss. At 45mph, trucks shifts into O/D, and TCC engages. If you have a miss, it will most certainly make itself known at that point.

Pull the plug, see what it looks like, check the wire, make sure it isn't worn thru at some point, and grounding out. If the plugs/wires are old, just replace them. There is a tech service bulletin in the faq section on plug wire routing as well.

Use copper plugs... these engines don't much like the fancy metal once.

Well I replaced them all. Truck lost its rough idle and its startup was quite fast. 7 of the 8 plugs had a gas smell the other was burnt oil. Rerouted the wire set anyway. Will drive it tomorrow to see how it does. I didn't catch the copper plugs over the iridium next time Ill put the copper in.

Oil fouled was in 3. Next to the cylinder 1 spark plug that threw the code. Going to replace my injectors to 4 hole as well since the autozone that I trust and know the guys checked out the plugs and they looked lean except for spark plug 3 which had oil. Afi air gap was installed in May so no more plenum.

Probably time for valve guide seals then.... I know my truck needs 'em, just haven't gotten around to it yet.
