Default AC compressor freezing?

AC works, then stops for a while, then starts again, then repeat process. I'm thinking the compressor is freezing up bc its sweating profusely, but ive never messed with AC units. Any suggestions?

Its normal for the compressor to cycle on and off, but if its low on Freon it will happen more often, until the Freon gets to low and the presure safety switch kicks in preventing the a/c compressor from coming on at all.

Go to Wal-Mart, or, your favorite parts store. Get a can of Refrigerant, (R-134a) that has the gauge on it. Make note of what current temp is. Look on the can, and see what pressure should be for the current temp. Hook the hose up to the low-pressure port on the a/c line. With engine running, and compressor running, see what the pressure is. If it is lower than what the chart says it should be, pull the trigger to put more refrigerant into the system. Keep doing that until the pressure is where it should be while compressor is running. Do NOT overfill the system.
