took truck for a quick 5 minute drive once I finished with the gear oil/gasket change, new plugs and wires, oil, oil filter, etc. After I shut off the engine, heard a "snick snick" coming from under the hood. Opened it, and it sounded like it came from the rockers. Well, actually, just sounded like it came from valve covers, but I'm guessing its the rockers. Both sides. The sou d kept happening about 3-4 mins after I shut off the engine. What's can that sound be? What can I do?

 

That's the sound of metal contracting as it cools. Fairly normal. You can't do anything about it. (aside from not driving..... )

 

Best news I've heard all week. Thank you. My bike does the same thing, but different tone. Guess engine size, exhaust, etc make the difference

 

I've wondered what that sounds was ever since I was a little kid. Thank you for finally answering that haha
