Default 97 ram with a shake

97 Dodge Ram.

Just got new tires, just got them balanced as well.

Drives fine, but between 40-50 mph only, I get a shake. Nothing above or below that range.

Doesn't shift hard or anything At all.

When I turn over drive off it doesn't shake at all.

Thoughts???

The shop could have warped a rotor when installing the tires if they used an impact gun. I have had it happen once. Could check your ball joints and tie rods. Jack up front tire with hands at three and nine try to move tire left and right if it moves bad tie rods. Try twelve and six if it moves bad ball joints. Also visual inspection helps my sway bar linkage snaps occasionally and cause vibration right around there.

You can't get enough leverage to test ball joints with your hands unless they are really bad.

Put a 6 ft steel bar in there and then try to move the wheel up and down.

OP.

Could be a miss.
Could try rotating tires and seeing if anything changes.
Sometimes shops screw the pooch on balancing tires also.

That's an engine miss. When is the last time you had a tune-up?

My bad I should have added this.

I had the gas tank replaced not too long ago. Before the gas tank was replaced, it did not shake. But leaving the shop, it started he shake when I picked it up. I took it back and told them it did not do this before hand, they said they would fix it. Then tried to tell me I had to pay them to replace all the spark plugs and wiring. That didn't happen.

Could ll the spark plugs and wires be the issue?

anything is possible. Has the plenum been fixed yet? Probably wouldn't hurt to pull the number 8 spark plug, and see what it looks like. (oil fouled?)
