Default 1996 dodge ram 1500

hey guys , i just bought my first new truck, its a 1996 dodge ram 1500 laramie v8 5.2 318, the body is in great but the paint was pilling so i bondo it and than painted it with some paint and it matched great, i got the truck for 600 dollars ,my first question was did i get ripped off or was that a good deal? the truck runs and drives but i know the tranny is slipping. can anyone help with links or anything to take transmissions out yourself.or can give me some details to save it

If its in halfway decent condition, runs/drives good, 600 bucks was a steal.

How many miles on it?

it has 300km running just the transmission is slipping , so im gonna switch it out with a newer one, the engine is great runs without smoke and doesnt bog out. just when i put my foot on the gas the tranny doesnt move to fast

i believe all mine is stock atm, but soon ill be putting money into it to make it a mean dodge , it wants to be.

Trans from 96-99 will bolt right in, hook right up, and work fine. Might have issues with 00-01 trans.... (electronics changed)

Also, needs to be the same drive type as what you have now. (2 or 4 wheel drive.)

the full stats are , 1996,dodge ram 1500,Laramie SLT,2x4 automatic,v8 , 5.2ltr 318. club cab(only has two doors but fits 6)

Very nice! and thats a steal. How bad does the transmission slip? sometimes a band adjustment, filter and pan fluid change helps cure slipping, worth a shot, unless you come across a good used transmission for a decent price. also make sure you use atf+3 or 4.
