Default 4x4 indicator light stays on

4x4 indicator light won't go out after using 4x4.I know the transfer case is disengaged, however the indicator light stays on. It will sometimes flicker like it is trying to go out, comes back on again. There must be a switch somewhere on the linkage that is in need of adjustment. I just can't seem to locate it any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Scotty

Default 4wd not turning off when disengaged

For what it may be worth when I had that problem in a few vehicles I use to put it in reverse and give it gas and it would turn the light out. I'm a firm believer in stopping the truck to put it into and out of 4WD and only put it in and out under 20 MPH.

Switch is actually on the central axle disconnect. Front axle tube, passenger side. Its all vacuum powered, and like typical vacuum lines, like to dry out, and break. There are steel lines as well, that like to rust out, and break.... Or, in my case, they simply collect moisture, and freeze solid.......

Here's a link to show you how it all works.

HeyYou,
Thanks for the link. That explains the function, I will get under the truck and figure out what the problem is this afternoon.
Thanks, Scotty

found loose and rotted vacuum coupler hoses back by trans x/mber. I replaced them and low and behold.....works like a charm. Looks like I'm gonna be busy replacing old worn out vac. hoses. The bonus is it even runs better. Thanks for all your great advice.
