Default 1998 46re trans swapped into a 2001 problems

I replace the 46re in my 01 ram with a 46re from a 98 ram the tv cable was adjusted and shifts through 3rd but wouldn't shift into od. Replaced the ecm from the 98 into the 01 and shifts like a dream but now there a cel and the odometer says no buS. Anyone have any insight on this?

Electronics mismatch. Things changed in 00. You need to put the 01 PCM back in, and then change the electronics in the trans, for the correct year parts. Should solve your issues.

Note: the bracket that hold the governor pressure sensor (or was it the solenoid?) is different in the newer trans, you need the correct one for your year.

So swapping the governor pressure solenoid out of the 01 trans into the 98 will take care of it? Or what all needs swapped out of the 01 to the 98 trans to work?

That's kinda funny I just called it a night after taking the sensors out of an 01 tranny in preparation of a "new" 98 transmission

governor pressure sensor and solenoid. Both right on the bottom of the valve body.

That's the only things I saw that were different. The wiring harness looked the same.

Ok its pouring down rain here today so I experimented with a cluster out of a 99 ram and no cel and no bus code and trans shifts great now. Dont know about the gov pressure solenoid or any of that stuff but I think its good to go now.

So apparently, the harness is the same from 99-00, but, some of the signals changed from the trans, and to the cluster..... interesting.

Thanks for the update.
